UPDATE: Hickory Hill Road is open to two-way traffic and will remain open for several weeks, according to Denton County Commissioner Andy Eads.
“The contractor prematurely closed the road over the weekend and I had them reopen the road,” said Eads. “We had an on-site meeting today and I changed the staging of the project.”
Eads said that Lane Construction will be reconstructing the Copper Canyon/Orchid Hill intersection over the next two weeks and then proceed westward to rebuild Hickory Hill Road.

Copper Canyon Rd./Hickory Hill Rd. in Argyle is down to one lane and limited to northbound/westbound traffic only from Orchid Hill to Stacee Lane due to construction.
Motorists can take Hickory Hill west from Stacee Lane to Hilltop Rd northbound to Old Alton as an alternate route to access FM 2181 and Guyer High School. See a map of the detour here.
The lane restriction will be in place from now until late October, according to Lane Construction.
