July 4: Celebrate Freedom

All across America, people will gather this week to celebrate the birth of this great nation.

Since the first July 4th celebration in 1777, one year after the original 13 colonies claimed independence, we have joined together as Americans to reflect upon the founding principles of this country – Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

How blessed we are 237 years after our forefathers courageous declaration, we can stand here today in a country that is the world’s democratic leader.

There are many ways to celebrate this year in our community such as joining the citizens of Double Oak at their community parade and picnic or enjoying the magical fireworks at Flower Mound’s Independence Fest.

Yet, regardless of where you are on this historic day, I hope you will join my family and me in reflecting on the ultimate sacrifices of great American patriots, including the brave men and women of our military, who have not only defended our freedom here at home but have inspired great hope that all people in every nation will one day know true liberty.

It is an honor to serve as your state representative.  May God bless America!
