Middle school mentors

Flower Mound Cadette Troop 497 earned their Silver Award on Saturday– the highest award a girl scout in middle school can earn– for helping their younger peers get acclimated to middle school.

The troop hosted a workshop at the Flower Mound Library aimed at helping incoming 6th graders cope with middle school issues such as homework, grooming, athletics, organization, teachers and making friends.  The girls also taught the students how to open a combination lock and how to decorate a locker.  Finally, they offered tips on what to wear by holding a fashion show for the students.

All of the members of Troop 497 will be in 8th grade next year at either Shadow Ridge or McKamy Middle Schools.
