The Marcus baseball team pounded Irving Nimitz 9-0 in their bi-district series opener on Wednesday night on the strength of a three-hit shutout from pitcher Jack Cushing.
Brendan Venter also homered in the game for the Marauders, while Austyn Laird, Nick Lewis and Trey Mound all doubled for Marcus.
Game two will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Marcus High School.
