New youth tennis program to debut in Flower Mound

WinKids Sports & Learning Center of Flower Mound has teamed up with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and the Dallas Tennis Association (DTA) to start a new Youth Tennis Program.

Coach Mike Winburn of WinKids announced that he has signed veteran tennis pro Kris Foote as the new Tennis Director at WinKids.

“We are extremely excited to add a high-quality tennis program to our menu of services for children,” said Winburn. “To make sure it is successful, we have partnered with the tennis associations and hired a director with many years of successful coaching and implementation of respected programs.”

Foote has experience as a Head Tennis Pro, Director and Coach of all age groups including the university level and nationally and world ranked players. She has provided league development and director level supervision for many top country clubs, such as Solana Club, Woodhaven, and Riverbend and managed city tennis facilities for Bedford and Colleyville.

WinKids will specialize in Quickstart and Youth programs to foster a love of tennis and teach fundamentals to children between 3 and 12 years of age.

The USTA made fundamental changes to rules governing competition for ages 10 and under that made participation and competition more welcoming by enhancing the playing opportunities and enjoyment of the game, Winburn said.

The Quickstart Tennis play format fosters proper techniques and enhances strategy, which are key components to success in competitive play.  The WinKids tennis facility is currently under construction with programs scheduled to begin in February.

WinKids currently offers private youth programs in Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Dance, Swimming and more.  For more information call WinKids 972-355-9988.
