A 64-year-old Denton man died after he was struck on his bicycle by an SUV on FM 2499 Monday afternoon.
The bicyclist, identified as Bob Pfarr, was taken by CareFlite medical helicopter to Medical Center of Plano. He was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.
Highland Village police said the accident occurred just after 4 p.m. on FM 2499 just north of Harlington Drive. Both the SUV and bicycle were headed southbound in the right lane when the collision occurred.
The 19-year-old female driver from Highland Village was not injured.
Pfarr was an avid cyclist, and it ran in his family. His father was an Olympian bike racer and was inducted into the Bicycling Hall of Fame in 2006.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
