Teens robbed at knifepoint in Lantana

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to be on the lookout after a couple was robbed at knifepoint at a Lantana community pool.

A teenage male from Canyon Oaks told police that he and his girlfriend from Denton were sitting in their vehicle at the Sandlin neighborhood pool parking lot around 6:30 p.m. Friday when a man approached the passenger side of the vehicle and asked them to roll down the window.

He said his girlfriend opened the window and they started talking to the suspect, who then displayed a knife and demanded their money.  The male victim handed over $100 and his girlfriend gave him $50.

The suspect, described as a black male, 5′ 9″ tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds with a “notched” right eyebrow, a piercing on his left eyebrow, and wearing an orange shirt with white shorts, got into a light gray Toyota 4 Runner driven by a white male with long brown curly hair and drove away.

The victim said he followed the suspect’s vehicle through Lantana, but eventually lost sight of them at Old Alton Road and FM 2181 in south Denton.  He reported that the first three characters on the suspect’s license plate are CM2.

The incident is under investigation. Denton County Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in these or other crimes. Callers will remain anonymous. Call 1-800-388-TIPS (8477).
