Hospital opens new rehabilitation center

Medical Center of Lewisville celebrated the opening of an 18-bed comprehensive medical inpatient rehabilitation unit Thursday with a ribbon cutting and open house.

The Rehabilitation Institute will provide comprehensive physical rehabilitation services, including rehabilitation focused nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more.

The goal is to help the patient become as independent as possible in the activities of daily living, including mobility and other functional skills, and to facilitate re-entry into the home and community.

Patients may be referred by several sources which include: physicians, discharge planners, health professionals, third-party payers, social service professionals, family, friends or self.

Those on hand to celebrate the new facility included Ashley McClellan, Medical Center Lewisville President and Chief Executive Officer; Lynn Benjamin, Vice President and MCL Chief Nursing Office; Lewisville Mayor Dean Ueckert, and Medical Center of Lewisville Board Chairman Bill Lawrence.
