Free throw marathon to fund scholarship in teen’s memory

A charity basketball event has been scheduled to honor the memory of Alex Betzhold, a popular Argyle seventh-grader who died unexpectedly from a medical condition in January.

The Shoot For The Stars Free Throw Marathon will take place April 27-28 at the Argyle High School gym and cafeteria.

The goal is to make 13,035 free throws in 24 hours at four baskets, representing the facts that Alex was 13 years old when he passed away, his basketball number was 35 and he left four immediate family members behind to carry on his legacy.

An inspirational guest speaker, live auction featuring autographed sports memorabilia and celebrity basketball game will take place after the marathon.

All proceeds go to Alex Betzhold Memorial Scholarship Fund. Volunteers and donations are needed.  Call 940-464-2829 or visit www.abmsf.net.
