Christian Community Action is hosting an event this March that will help the organization raise money to continue the community support it has been providing for nearly 40 years.
Pastor Todd Burpo will speak at the Irving Bible Church on March 1 and give an account of his son, Colton’s, extraordinary divine experience while undergoing a medical procedure.
CCA Marketing Director Amanda Beasley said the story is fascinating.
“When Colton was four years old, he was having an emergency appendectomy, and basically, during surgery, he went to Heaven,” Beasley said. “When he came back, he told stories about what happened and who he met. The story is called ‘Heaven is For Real,’ and it is told by his father based on what his son told him. It’s a really cool story.”
CCA also recently held their reSale by CCA “Grand reOpening” on Feb. 4, and Beasley said a lot of changes were made
“We’ve remodeled the store, and we’ve done a lot of new things,” Beasley said.
The store is located at 2202 S. Hwy 121 in Lewisville.
CCA also recently received a donation of goods from Waste Management, in the form of food and toiletry items for the CCA pantry, as well as items to sell at reSale, which Beasley said has been a big help to the organization.
“The importance of that is that reSale funds nearly half of our ministry,” Beasley said.
CCA distributes more than $1.4 million worth of food and sees more than 4,000 low-income patients in their health center each year.
On the horizon, CCA will open a new collection center in Flower Mound. Beasley said the decision on the final grant will be made this month, so look for an announcement in the near future.
“We’ve decided to do this because the majority of the donors to our reSale by CCA stores come from the Flower Mound area, so we want to make it more convenient for them,” Beasley said.
