Circle of Friends homecoming a success

Marcus High School Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE), Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFJROTC) and junior varsity volleyball team presented mums, garters and gifts to the MHS Circle of Friends students in an inclusion program for all special needs students to wear to the MHS Homecoming Volleyball Game!

“I just love seeing the students’ faces and the joy in their hearts when they received a mum or garter of their own,” MHS TAFE student Emily Manning said. “I am so happy to expand the project to present the mums to students before a homecoming game.”

This is the second year MHS TAFE students have created mums and garters – made from recycled mums and garters that were donated for the project – for all 27 MHS Circle of Friends students.

However, this year is the first year the project expanded to include a homecoming court presentation at the beginning of the MHS Junior Varsity Volleyball game.

During the presentation, each Circle of Friends student walked through a AFJROTC sword saber to receive their mums and garters and then each volleyball player gave them a personalize Nerf volleyball, as a keepsake from the special ceremony.
