Gourmet fare flavor of Taste of Argyle

An evening of tasting a smorgasbord of gourmet dishes, wines and other spirits as well as entertainment are part of the first Taste of Argyle on Sept. 9.

For $25, those attending the event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will enjoy entrees from Abuelo’s, Rockfish Seafood Grill, Patrizio, Texas Roadhouse, the Flour Shop, Bistecca, Good Times Cajun Cuisine and more.

In addition, spirits from Witherspoon Distillery, Angry Orchard, Rabbit Hole Brewing, Shiner and others will accompany the many dishes ranging from Mexican to Italian to Cajun cuisine.

An outdoor cigar bar and Deal Me In Casino Parties will provide opportunities to visit and be entertained.

Organized by the Argyle Chamber of Commerce, the event is designed to offer a night out for area residents at the newly-renovated Denton Country Club as well as benefit local organizations, says Margie Sullivan of Argyle Chamber of Commerce.

If everything goes as planned, the event along with funds from the annual golf tournament and scholarships will enable the Argyle chamber to provide an estimated $15,000 to community organizations this year, she said.

“We’re a small chamber but we focus on the kind of thing we do well – fundraising and spreading it around the community,” Sullivan said, adding the chamber currently has 120 members.

Proceeds from a golf tournament earlier this year enabled the chamber to provide checks for $410 to each of 11 non-profit organizations. Chamber officials hope to equal or surpass that goal for the Taste of Argyle event.
Sponsors for the event include First Choice Emergency Room, The Cross Timbers Gazette and Sigma Signs & Printing.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.argylechamber.org or by stopping in at the office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Volunteers from several local non-profit organizations will also be at the event to provide information during the Taste of Argyle. Among the organizations to benefit from the event’s proceeds are:

*Born 2 Be Therapeutic

*Cloud 9 Charities

*Cross Timbers YMCA

*Good Samaritan Lake Forest

*Liberty Christian School

*Metroport Meals on Wheels

*New Hope Equine Assisted Therapy

*Riding Unlimited

*Big Brothers Big Sisters of Denton
