A good nay-bor

Dr. John Bitter from Argyle Veterinary Hospital (pictured center) recently administered vaccines to neglected horses cared for by Argyle-based Ranch Hand Rescue as part of the Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign.

The outreach program connects veterinarians with equine rescue and retirement facilities to provide healthcare for America’s unwanted horses.

The horses at Ranch Hand Rescue received core equine vaccines to protect them against Rabies, West Nile, Flu, Rhino, and Vewt thanks to the support of American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP)-member Argyle Veterinary Hospital.

“Tens of thousands of horses end their days unwanted or unneeded,” said Bob Williams with Ranch Hand Rescue.

“Our equine rescue center relies on the generosity of our supporters. Not only do we depend on them – our horses do as well.

“We want to thank the Argyle Veterinary Hospital for making a difference in the lives of so many of our horses. Having John Bitter DVM on board in conjunction with the UHVRC is fantastic news for equine welfare.”
