Denton County GOP announces endorsements for May 2 election

The Denton County Republican Party has announced its endorsements for the May 2 election, along with financial contributions to each selected candidate.

Party officials said precinct chairs met to endorse candidates in several local races across southern Denton County. In addition, each endorsed candidate will receive a $1,000 contribution through support from party donors and sponsors.

“This is something that is long overdue,” party leadership said in a statement. “Supporting candidates at the local level is exactly what a strong Republican Party should be doing.”

The party said the initiative was funded in part through community sponsors and proceeds from a recent silent auction held during the Lincoln Reagan Dinner.

Officials also thanked candidates who filed to run for office, emphasizing the importance of local elections.

“Real change starts at the local level—in your neighborhoods, your schools and your communities,” the statement said.

The Denton County Republican Party endorsed the following local candidates:

In Flower Mound, Susan Cox for Place 5 Town Council.

In Highland Village, Lori Hill for Place 6 City Council.

In Justin, James Clark and Tomas Mendoza for mayor.

In Lewisville, Brent Kuykendal for Place 1 City Council and Ronni Cade for Place 3 City Council.

For Lewisville ISD Place 5, Brian Pollard.

In Roanoke, Donald J. Glacy for Place 1.

Election Day is Saturday, May 2. Early voting runs from April 20 through April 28.
