Picardi seeks Flower Mound Council seat

Albert Picardi

During the Dec. 18 Town Council meeting Albert Picardi announced his intention to run for Flower Mound Town Council this May. He will seek Place 2 being vacated by Bryan Webb.

Currently serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission in Place 5, the Flower Mound resident of nearly 25 years raised his family here and has been a volunteer in a variety of Flower Mound organizations, including: serving on the Library Board; the Summit Club for many years; the Academic Excellence Awards; Boy Scout and Cub Scout troop chartering; and, funding for robotics clubs.

Picardi is the current Chairman of The Flower Mound Foundation– the private foundation that owns and preserves The Mound and helps organize the Easter Sunrise Service.

Public Education has always been important to him, he said, so he has served on a number of PTA boards.  As a band parent, he has served on band trips, at football games and band tournaments.

“Being on Town Council takes time, a lot of time,” said Picardi. “Having recently retired from Fidelity Investments– and my youngest is now a college Junior– I now have the time available to do a great job for Flower Mound.”

Picardi’s first priority is to make Flower Mound more, “’us’ instead of the divided ‘them vs. us’ we see today,” plus work to see boards and commissions more inclusive of all ideas.

Other important issues will be to preserve the town’s low tax rate, and work on transportation and commuting.

“I want to expand our park system and link trails divided by FM 2499 and FM 1171,” added Picardi.

The filing period for the May municipal and school board elections runs from January 17 to February 16.
