Amanda Drinkwater

Lewisville ISD (LISD) announced on Monday the appointment of Amanda Drinkwater as the district’s new Director of Fine Arts. Drinkwater will oversee art, band, choir, drill team, music, orchestra and theatre at all LISD schools.

“It has been a privilege to serve as a Texas music educator for the past 23 years, the last 17 of which have been in Lewisville ISD,” Drinkwater said. “I am honored and truly humbled to have an opportunity to serve our district on a broader scale in support of the many exceptional fine arts programs, students and teachers within our outstanding collection of public schools.”

Drinkwater has served as the director of bands at Marcus High School (MHS) since 2005. In addition, Drinkwater served as an associate band director at MHS and The Colony High School (TCHS) for four years. Prior to joining LISD, Drinkwater held an associate band director position at Leander High School for six years.

“Amanda Drinkwater personifies fine arts excellence in Lewisville ISD,” LISD Chief Schools Officer Dr. Joe Coburn said. “Her track record of success through an incredible work ethic and her ability to build relationships, made Marcus High School’s band program nationally recognized. We are thrilled that Mrs. Drinkwater will take her passion for all fine arts disciplines into her new role.”

Under Drinkwater’s direction, the MHS band achieved many recognitions and distinctions at the state and national levels. Those achievements include: University of Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sight Reading Sweepstakes, multiple UIL State Marching Contest championship titles, Texas Music Educators Association State Honor Band finalists, John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield (2007), Sudler Flag (2015), Bands of America Grand National finalists (1999, 2009, 2013, 2017), and most recently the Texas Bandmasters Association Program of Excellence honor (2017).

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Drinkwater received her bachelor’s in music education. She holds a certification in Secondary Music (6-12).
