The two Lantana fresh water supply districts at their October meetings approved $63,000 to extend the hike and bike trail into the new Barrington subdivision at the north end of Lantana Trail.
The new section will connect to the existing trail from a point near Lantana Trail next to the Isabel subdivision and run east along a greenbelt area to the TXU utility easement.
But joggers and bikers will need to be patient as completion of the new trail may not be until the end of next summer due to numerous underground utility relocations, according to Lantana General Manager Kevin Mercer.
