Two-term incumbent Paul Johnson of Highland Village successfully fended off Karen Alexander of Lantana in the hard-fought race for Denton County District Attorney on Tuesday.
Johnson had 11,771 votes (56%) to Alexander’s 9,248 votes (44%).
“I’ve got to give my thanks to God first, then my family, and I thank the voters that looked at my record and compared it with my opponent’s record and I appreciate that they voted for me,” said Johnson.
“When you run for office you are the target, but during this campaign so many people in my office were under siege. They didn’t sign up for that. They signed up to represent the citizens of Denton County and they work tirelessly.”
In the race for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, incumbent J Hand of Flower Mound edged out Northlake Attorney Harris Hughey by 56 ballots, winning 50.50% of the vote.
Voter turnout was 5.69% of registered voters.
