10th annual Dorothy’s Dash benefits MS Society

Help the Town of Flower Mound commemorate a former employee’s battle with MS by participating in the 10th annual Dorothy’s Dash 5K Run/Walk & Kid’s K this Saturday presented by the Texas Back Institute.

On November 16, 2004, Dorothy Walkup lost her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Dorothy will be missed but not forgotten as a friend, mentor, and shoulder to lean on to all who had the good fortune of knowing her.

Her strength and courage were never more evident than during her seven-year fight against MS.

Walkup was an advocate, supporter, and former participant in track and field events, so the town  sponsored a race to honor her memory, share her example with others who suffer this disease, and to raise funds to combat Multiple Sclerosis.

Net proceeds benefit the Lone Star Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Dorothy’s honor.

Dorothy’s Dash will take place at Flower Mound High School, 3411 Peters Colony, Flower Mound.

Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, as well as the first three finishers in each age category.

All Kid’s K participants will receive a medal. There will be no duplication of awards. 5K categories: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Registration is open online and in person at the Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Rd.
