Flower Mound officially has a new police chief. Andy Kancel took his oath to serve and protect Monday at Flower Mound Town Hall.
Kancel is a 24-year veteran of the North Richland Hills Police Department and most recently served as their assistant police chief.
He replaced FMPD Chief Kenneth Brooker, who retired in June after a 30-year career in Flower Mound.
“I am honored to be able to serve the citizens of Flower Mound as well as the staff of this great police department,” said Chief Kancel. “I look forward to getting to know everyone and my family and I are very excited to become a part of the Flower Mound community.”
The Flower Mound Police Department will host a public meet-and-greet for Chief Kancel from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Flower Mound Police Department Community Room, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane. For more information, contact Karen Ellis at 972-874-3314.
