Lantana-based non-profit Mission Moms and the Lantana Golf Club Student Scholarship have been selected as co-benefactors of the 2013 Lantana Golf Club Memorial Golf Tournament on Nov. 10.
The Lantana Golf Club Memorial Tournament was founded in 2007 by members as a fundraising event for local charitable causes.
The tournament is held every year to keep alive the memories of former club members who have passed away.
The names of those honored members are engraved on course plaques on Hole #15: Hank Womack, Hal Maxwell, James Corbett, Rachele Bowman, Mark Austry, Lloyd Rixe, Eddie Little, Laura Kay Hilton, Jim Bryan, Tom Hatfield, Neal Moulton, Mary Helen Moulton, Bruce Lane and Dennis Ouellette.
Mission Moms will use proceeds from the event to help the growing number of families in need for the holidays. In the schools where they help, the number of families has grown from 220 to nearly 400, according to Mission Moms founder and facilitator Kathryn Flores.
The Lantana Golf Club Student Scholarship is presented to a deserving college-bound Guyer High School senior selected annually by the Denton Education Foundation.
The golf club donates the course fees and all other expenses are done at-cost to raise more money for the charities.
The four-person scramble tournament will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10, with a shotgun start at noon following lunch at 11 a.m.
Teams are needed to participate in the tournament. A registration fee of $100 per player ($75 for members) includes green fees, cart, range balls and lunch. Lunch only is $35. Tee times are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Register online, or by calling the Pro Shop at 940-728-4653, ext. 2.
Lantana Golf Club is located at 800 Golf Club Dr. in Lantana.
