Letter: Miller cares about kids

For the last 18 years, I have been a friend and business associate with Tracy Scott Miller who is running for Lewisville Independent School District (LISD) School Board. I have developed a deep respect for Tracy because of the way he approaches decision making and how he builds trust in gaining support for matters that can make a difference.

Tracy is uniquely qualified as a Place 3, LISD School Board Trustee because of his multiple decades of business background and leadership qualities, his varied positions he has held in the local Double Oak City office and as a devout husband and father of two children (17 & 20) that have grown up in the LISD school system.

All of the issues that Tracy is running on are important to the long term success of all those connected with the LISD system. However, I am most excited about and supportive of his focus on drugs and alcohol and the devastating effects is has on our local teenagers and families.

I have two children (20 & 23) that have both completed their K-12 education in LISD. As such, we have known many teenagers and families that have been devastated by drug overdose, DWI, death and the list goes on. As a local member, supporter and volunteer with the local Reformers Unanimous (Chapter 520) addiction program in Flower Mound and as a father, I have seen firsthand the devastating impact that drugs and alcohol has had on our local families and communities.

Tracy can count on me and the rest of the Reformers Unanimous family to get involved and assist him with this important issue that is impacting our local communities. I hope you will join me in voting for Tracy Scott Miller for LISD School Board on November 5, 2013.
