Leaders to give thanks at prayer breakfast

Mayor Tom Hayden of Flower Mound, Mayor Patrick Davis of Highland Village and Mayor Dean Ueckert of Lewisville are participating in the 14th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 6:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville.

For the past 13 years the event has been a opportunity for community and business leaders to come together and pray.

Special emphasis is placed on prayer for law enforcement, elected officials, schools, pastors, churches, and the military.

Patterned after the Annual National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, DC, the event is designed as a time for rededication of individuals and our communities to God.

The purpose of the local Prayer Breakfast is a public gathering honoring of God through prayer, music, speech, and His Word.

This year’s breakfast will involve many leading businessmen, clergy, and citizens of our communities and will feature James Robison as the keynote speaker and special music by Andy Edwards of Prestonwood Baptist Church.

Robison began working in ministry, speaking at churches and conducting hundreds of citywide crusades in stadiums and indoor arenas nationwide attended by over 20 million people.

After more than 20 years proclaiming the gospel through crusade evangelism and Bible conferences, Robison founded LIFE Outreach International to focus on television, overseas missions and humanitarian outreaches.

Robison is co-host of LIFE Today, a daily syndicated television program that reaches virtually every household in America.  His New York Times’ bestseller, “Indivisible: Restoring Faith, Family, and Freedom Before It’s Too Late,”  co-written by Jay W. Richards, urges people of faith to learn, understand and help apply the principles necessary for healthy, effective government.

The Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast normally attracts 400-500 people.  The host committee expects a sellout crowd this year. For information about tickets to the Prayer Breakfast, please contact Lakeland Baptist Church at (972) 436-4561.
