The Town of Flower Mound recently started the Hometown Heroes program, honoring the community’s men and women who serve or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Those who wish to participate and meet the qualifications can have a banner created with their loved one’s name and photo on it to be displayed in Flower Mound.
Hometown Heroes will be an ongoing program and the town will accept applications throughout the year for those who wish to sponsor a banner.
Banners depicting local heroes will be displayed for three months, and will then be presented to the individual or family during a Town Council meeting along with a proclamation acknowledging the individual’s service to the town and nation.
Applications are available Monday through Friday at Town Hall, during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or online at www.flower-mound.com/hometownheroes. There is a $150 fee per banner, which covers printing costs.
