Forty swimmers from Lakeside Aquatic Club (LAC) in Flower Mound participated in the 2nd Annual Dallas Swim Across America in Rockwall last Saturday.
Under the leadership of LAC Board President, Tim Leonard, “Team Lakeside” raised over $21,000 and came in as the 3rd highest fundraising team.
“I challenged these kids to raise $15,000 this year. True to their competitive nature, they exceeded their goal,” said Leonard. “This event gives our swimmers an opportunity to use their gift to benefit others.”
Over $275 thousand was raised at the event to benefit the Innovative Clinical Trials Center at the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center.
Several Lakeside swimmers had some top-ranking finishes as well, including Chase Sellers, Aidan Glynn, Nathan Anderson, Sammie Jo Porter, Megan Hanson, Alecia McGillivray, Gabriela Arredondo, Abbie Porter, Brooke Lawless, Keley VanDevier, MacKenzie Garcia-Hynds, Julia Jergens, and Jessica Hanson.
