Election Day is this Saturday, so please mark your calendar to set aside time to vote in between your busy weekend plans. There are three contested town council races this year, the Mayor and two council seats, as well as twelve charter amendments.
Currently there is an overall negative tone at Town Hall, particularly during council meetings and when interacting with our employees and business partners. The decision-making processes have certainly deteriorated, and I feel most residents want the town council to work more effectively, be more respectful to each other and to residents, and better serve and represent the community.
As your council member for Place 4 I will use common sense leadership to:
Bring sound economic development principles back – Through my experiences as a Council Member, a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, and a member of the Mixed Use Steering Committee, I can objectively evaluate economic development projects. I will not allow my personal fears and biases to cloud my judgment and I will not miss quality economic development opportunities only to watch them pass by Flower Mound and invest in neighboring cities.
Fix Flower Mound’s hard to work with reputation – Restoring a positive reputation for our community will be a challenge that I look forward working on. It will take a clear vision and perseverance to lead the organization to a better place.
Repair damage done to relationships – I have a history of working effectively with many local civic and business organizations who are key contributors to the economic success of Flower Mound and valuable partners with the Town.
It’s time for Flower Mound to move forward and emerge from the cloud of negative politics. I ask for your vote on Saturday to help me bring common sense leadership back to Flower Mound.
Steve Dixon, Candidate for Flower Mound Town Council, Place 4
