In this day and age of distrust for our political leaders, it is rare to find an individual who has character, integrity, commitment to values, and someone you can honestly trust to “walk the talk”. We are fortunate to have such an individual who is committed to our core values and more specifically to the children of our communities. That individual is Mike McDaniel who is a candidate for LISD Board of Trustees.
Some of you may remember a few years ago when the redistricting of Flower Mound and Marcus High Schools was a key issue for thousands of affected students and yes, I was one of those who strongly opposed this measure. Hundreds of parents were on board during this fight but in the end we lost the battle and all have moved forward and put this behind us. I only bring this up because during those very controversial meetings with the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees only two members of the Board were willing to openly listen and discuss our concerns. Those two were Ann Lakusta and Mike McDaniel.
The remainder of the Board, including Mike’s current opponent, labeled our group of concerned parents “The Crazies”. And yes, we were a little crazy about the perceived impact on the children, but regardless Mike and Ann were willing to take the time to listen to our concerns and openly express why they felt this was in the overall best interests of the children and the district.
Mike has been off of the Board for the last six years and devoted his time to his family, his church, and the community at large while building his own business which helps the towns of Flower Mound and Highland Village so why would Mike want to invest his time and energy once more on the LISD Board? The answer is simple—because he cares about the welfare of your children and the LISD community at large. As I learned after recently meeting with Mike, the current decisions made by many on the Board are ludicrous and out of touch with today’s economy and certainly not in the best interests of the children. I no longer have children in LISD so why would I even be concerned about who our representatives are on the Board of Trustees? Because you and your children deserve the best leaders that we can elect and who sincerely believe in doing the right thing and not what is most convenient and in their best interests. If you truly want an individual who cares about your children and our community then I urge you to number one vote and secondly to vote for an individual of integrity and commitment—Mike McDaniel for LISD Board of Trustees.
