The new traffic pattern following Wednesday morning’s opening of the new northbound lanes of FM 2499.

The end is in sight. Crews working on the FM 2499 portion of TxDOT’s DFW Connector Project are rapidly approaching another major construction milestone, with the new lowered mainlanes of northbound FM 2499 set to open at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23.

But before that can happen, motorists should be aware of nightly closures leading up to the traffic pattern change:

• From 8 p.m. on Monday (3/21) to 6 a.m. Tuesday (3/22) northbound FM 2499 will be reduced to one lane from S.H. 121 to Riverwalk Dr.

• From 8 p.m. on Tuesday (3/22) to 6 a.m. on Wednesday (3/23), the current northbound FM 2499 lanes (future frontage road) will be fully closed to allow for the opening of the new mainlanes.

• At 6 a.m. on Wednesday (3/23), the new, lowered northbound FM 2499 mainlanes will open to traffic. Existing northbound FM 2499 lanes will become the frontage road for local and business traffic.

• From 8 p.m. on Wednesday (3/23) to 6 a.m. on Thursday (3/24), the northbound FM 2499 frontage road at Grapevine Mills Blvd. will be closed to complete the traffic pattern change. Traffic will be encouraged to use the new northbound FM 2499 mainlanes.
