Old-school barbershop offers new looks

Marilyn and Pat Lawson, 20-year residents of Flower Mound, have brought the classic American barbershop experience to town.

Roosters Men’s Grooming Center opened on Dec. 17 at 2500 Cross Timbers Road, Ste. 140, in the Riverwalk Market in Flower Mound.

“Roosters is about high end, quality haircuts, with nice ambiance and a great experience,” Pat Lawson said. “What’s most important about this business is high consultation with the customer, so we know what they want, along with the technical ability to do it right, and great guest services in a nice environment.”

While Pat Lawson’s career in consulting and executive management for Fortune 10 companies has taken the couple as far as Indonesia, the couple kept their roots in Flower Mound.

Marilyn Lawson currently chairs Keep Flower Mound Beautiful (KFMB), a non-profit organization which sponsors a variety of health and environmental related activities and events for the community.

With an extensive background in franchising, Pat Lawson said that he was especially attracted to Roosters’ focus on offering high quality products and services along with a great customer experience.

“We have a great team of barbers and stylists led by Store Manager Doug Blauman,” said Lawson. “They love what they do and it shows.”

The store has individual stations, so that washing, trimming and shaving all take place in the same location, and Lawson said that is not the only difference his salon offers.

“We set ourselves apart in that we are high quality,” Lawson said. “We don’t think you can get a higher quality haircut at a salon or any other branded name. But price wise, we consider ourselves to be between the discounters and the more expensive places. We call ourselves the sensible middle.”

Unlike other men’s grooming centers in this area, Rooster’s offers a full range of Aveda hair care products.

The salon has a full time trainer on board so that there is consistency between stylists and barbers, and the Flower Mound store takes appointments on the phone or online, and also accepts walk ins.

Rooster’s is adjacent to the soon-to-open La Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe in the Market Street Center, and the salon’s grand opening will take place Tuesday starting at 10 a.m.
