Update: Residents, pets rescued from home on fire in Argyle

Firefighters responded late Monday afternoon to a structure fire in Argyle, according to Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1.

While some ESD firefighters were providing mutual aid on a fire in Highland Village, a call came in about 3:45 p.m. of a fire in the 400 block of Whispering Trails Street, a residential street in the east side of Argyle. The first personnel on scene saw a fully involved garage that was extending into the two-story home, according to an ESD news release.

More crews arrived — including firefighters from the ESD, Double Oak, Denton and Justin — and some knocked down the fire from the exterior while other went inside to minimize further damage to the home, which is not livable after the fire, according to the ESD. Two adults and two pets were safely evacuated from the home, and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
