With so much attention being paid to the Middle East after the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, I thought it might be interesting to hear from a Flower Mound resident who just returned from the neighboring country of Pakistan. Jehangir Raja, who recently ran for Mayor of Flower Mound, is a businessman who often travels internationally. He was in Pakistan during the recent leadup to the capture of Kabul by the Taliban. He has some interesting observations about his return trip that might be of interest to other travelers.
Mr. Raja is a hedge fund manager, Wall Street veteran, entrepreneur and an accomplished financial executive. He has a long and varied business career that encompasses many segments of the investment management, private equity, and related fields, as well as positions in corporate finance and operations. Moreover, he is happily married to Daliyah Raja for over 23 years and blessed with 3 wonderful daughters. The oldest one is a Nurse Practitioner (master’s in nursing) on her way to be a doctor. The middle one on her way to medical college after graduating with 4.0 CGPA with bachelor’s in biology. The youngest one is graduating from high school.
A short bio from Mr. Raja follows: “In August 2016, I have founded JR Dallas Wealth Management, www.jrdallaswealth.com, a private equity investment firm based in Dallas, Texas, where I currently serve as CEO. The firm provides growth capital for emerging companies. Since 1999, I have also served in a major leadership role like CFO and CEO of several other major private and public companies, where I have managed investments, traded equities, and led M&A and joint venture transactions. JR Dallas is a start-up, and it has raised and managed over $1.2 Billion within 4 years. The company successfully invested and co invested along with firms like KKR, Carlyle Group and TPG. I also acquired United Investment Managers (UIM); a Chicago based Asset Management firm with over $300 Million under management.”
In addition to all of the above, Jehangir, his lovely wife Daliyah, and his adorable family are some of the nicest people I’ve ever known. My wife and I have the pleasure of socializing with them and introducing them to our friends. The Raja family is a marvelous addition to our town and we look forward to hearing many positive ideas that will continue to benefit our little flower of North Texas!
