Some Morriss Road work ends, but lane closures continue

The town of Flower Mound has opened up some parts of Morriss Road around Forestwood Middle School, but other parts of the reconstruction project will continue, surely causing some additional delays during school dropoff and pickup times.

Portions of Morriss Road were reduced to one lane for construction work in May. The town announced that ahead of the first day of school Tuesday, it has opened the intersection of Morriss and Garden Roads, all northbound lanes from Forest Vista Drive to Garden Road, and all southbound lanes from Garden Road to south of the school entrance.

Other work will continue and cause delays for drivers. Water line work south of the school entrance will force the southbound inside lane to be closed, while panel replacement and intersection improvement work will continue north of Garden Road and south of Forest Vista Drive.

The entire project – including concrete panel replacements on Morriss from FM 3040 to Firewheel Drive, sidewalk improvements from FM 3040 to Firewheel Drive, plus 20-inch and 24-inch water line replacements from Forest Vista to Garden Road – is expected to be complete in May 2020.

The town says it has been and will continue to be in regular communication with Lewisville ISD as the project progresses. Additional work in front of Forestwood will be necessary, but it will take place outside school hours and/or during school breaks.
