Kick off summer with fishing, food, fireworks and lots of local fun.
Celebrate Highland Village will take place this Saturday, June 1 at Unity Park, 2200 Briarhill Blvd.
The morning events include a 1k/5k run, a family fish out, and the Arbor Day Proclamation where the City will be giving away Texas Red Oak saplings.
That evening, head back to Unity Park at 6 p.m. for live music, food, drinks, kids activities, and a spectacular fireworks display. Fireworks will be launched from Unity Park and will begin at dark.
Food vendors will have card readers on site for attendees wishing to purchase food. However, it’s always a good idea to bring cash as back-up. There will not be an ATM on site at this event.
Residents who live in close proximity to Unity Park will be able to view the show from the convenience of their home. If you desire to watch the fireworks from Unity Park, the city encourages you to walk or bike to the park due to limited parking. Don’t forget your lawn chairs or blankets. And of course you’ll want to bring bug spray and small coolers are welcome – please don’t bring glass containers or pets.
More information about the event is at hvparks.com. We hope to see you Saturday at Unity Park!
