Foodie Friday: A Quick Recap

It’s been one tasty year here at Foodie Friday DFW and it’s only March! We’ve been able to visit and revisit some fantastic local restaurants over the past few months, so in case you missed any of them, here’s a quick recap for you. This weekend seems like a great one to get out there and try someplace you’ve never been before.

Tierney’s Cafe and Tavern

We took a stroll down memory lane and headed back to one of our very first Foodie Friday restaurants, Tierney’s Cafe and Tavern in Old Town Lewisville. They’re famous for their Potato Chip Chicken, homestyle cooking, hospitality, and their huge patio where you can find live music several nights of the week.

Palio’s Pizza Cafe (Highland Village)

New owner of the Highland Village location, Raed Alan, has done a fantastic job at getting involved in the community by hosting fundraiser nights, providing pizza to local schools, and allowing first responders to eat free with them. If you’re a pizza-lover, you’ll go crazy for their King Pizza. And if you’re on a gluten-free diet, they’ve got a pizza crust that’s gluten-free for you!

Gabriela & Sofia’s Tex-Mex

At Gabriela & Sofia’s in Parker Square of Flower Mound, you’ll enjoy a fantastic meal filled with some of Owner, Gabriel Pompareyna’s, family recipes that have been passed down for generations. We never leave Gabriela & Sofia’s without ordering some of their ribeye and/or spicy shrimp fajitas. And don’t even get us started on their Tres Leches cake…

The Tavern at Lakeside

One of Lakeside DFW’s newest restaurants, The Tavern at Lakeside offers a mouth-watering menu and a fantastic environment that will keep you coming back again and again. You’ve got to start with their Three-Story Nachos and we’d also highly recommend their Cowboy Brisket Grilled Cheese. And, of course, they’ve also got a fabulous assortment of hand-crafted cocktails, draft beers, wines and whiskeys.

Verf’s Grill & Tavern

Ever since Verf’s opened a little more than three years ago, we’ve been huge fans. Chef Florencio helped throw Jay a killer 50th birthday party and we’ve hosted many team outings, client dinners, and date nights with them. Chef Florencio is always coming up with delicious new menu items. Some of our personal favorites are the Bone-In Porkchop and the Verf’s Enchiladas. And our resident drinkers say their Old Fashioned is to die for!

407 BBQ

Two years ago, we made our way out to Argyle to visit a small but beloved BBQ spot called 407 BBQ across the street from the Harvest community. Back then, they were making and serving up barbecue from a small trailer. Now Owner Bryan McLarty is operating out of a 4,000+ space in front of Defender Outdoors in Argyle – still serving up the same great food, just in a much larger kitchen. Whenever we want some good ribs, this is where we head to.

Salerno’s Italian Restaurant

If you’ve been living in Flower Mound for any amount of time, you’ve surely heard of the OG of local restaurants, Salerno’s. They recently moved to their new location in Highland Village and we were so excited to see it! They’ve still got the old favorites on the menu, but have added a few new items including their Rotisserie Chicken and their assortment of meringue pies.

Sara’s Donut Story

Her donut shop may have a new name, but Faith ‘Sara’ Ko is still serving up all the favorite donut creations our community has grown to love her for. You’ll never meet anyone sweeter. Her personality perfectly matches the decor and donuts found in her shop – bright, cheerful, and creative. And if you ever have a need for custom donuts, Sara’s your gal!

Seven Loaves Catering & Events

Another beloved family in the community, the Smithwicks have created pure magic at their catering company based out of Lewisville. No matter what kind of event you’re hosting or what kind of food you’re looking to serve, they’ve got your back! I saw Phillip prepare no less than six completely different kinds of food while we were in his kitchen, so they’re ready to help you with whatever your needs are.

Local Pint

Since opening last year, Local Pint has added more wine and beer to-go to their menu in an effort to keep attracting new people to the draft house. And their menu expands every month as well. So, if it’s been a while since you were last there, you better go check out what they added to the menu! Their Charcuterie Boards are fantastic and are always changing up a bit. And, of course, we can’t not mention the BOJ Burger!
