The Highland Village City Council on Tuesday approved resolutions associated with the projects voters approved in the November bond election.

Two resolutions were approved for the engineering and survey services with BW2 Engineers for the Highland Village Road sidewalk project and the street improvement project.

The Highland Village Road sidewalk project will construct a sidewalk from the Municipal Complex to Sellmeyer Lane. The street improvement project consists of 23 streets that will be reconstructed over the next four years.

Council also requested the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to further discuss the Sunset Point Park master plan and provide Council recommendations.

A resolution was approved authorizing the publication of the intent to issue certificates of obligation for $2.8 million for utility capital projects. The primary projects to be addressed in this issue include the addition of a water line loop from Chinn Chapel to Castlewood, water and sewer line replacements and painting of the Southwood Ground Storage Tank. Council will approve the ordinance issues the certificates of obligation at their meeting on January 23.

Council approved an ordinance adopting revised financial policies and a debt management policy for the City. The City’s financial policies provide the guidelines for staff in planning and directing the day-to-day financial operations. The revised policies conform to current practice and changes to state law and developed a replacement financial policy which includes a debt management policy. The policies were last updated in 2002.
