Flower Mound residents can weigh in on the town’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year and the proposed property tax rate at upcoming public hearings.

The town is hosting a public hearing on Monday at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Road, according to a town news release. Residents can address council about the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18 and the proposed tax rate.

The proposed tax rate is 43.9 cents per $100, which is the same as the preceding year but is higher than the effective tax rate of 42.7 cents per $100, which is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the town from the same properties in both the 2016 tax year and the 2017 tax year.

A second public hearing on the tax rate is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sept. 5.

If both the budget and tax rate are approved by the Town Council on September 18, they will go into effect October 1.
