Flower Mound-based Heritage Health Solutions is sponsoring two Battle of the Boards wheelchair basketball competitions between first responders and military veterans.

Last year’s games were a big success, with over 200 people from Flower Mound and North Texas attending.

“When you suffer a major injury in the military, it really takes a toll on you,” said Southwest Military Basketball Wheelchair Conference director, Kent Robinson. “You return home, and your life is forever changed. But resuming an active life, especially through sports, helps you forget about your injuries.”

The first game is Tuesday, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at TWU’s Pioneer Hall, 304 Administration Drive in Denton.

Flower Mound first responders will participate in the second game on Friday, June 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Flower Mound YMCA, 2021 Cross Timbers Rd.

The games are open to the public to attend and parking will be free.
