There’s a new Italian Ice place in town and even though they’ve only been open for a week, there have already been lots of great things said about them around town!
Which is why we stopped into Iggy’s Italian Ice located in the Tom Thumb shopping center off of FM 2499 and FM 3040.
The Flower Mound location is one of a few in Dallas-Fort Worth and is owned by David McCleery and his business partner who are both residents of Mansfield.
Some of you may be asking, “What exactly is Italian Ice? Is it the same thing as a sno cone?” And the answer is – No.
Italian Ice is a super soft, fine textured ice that’s similar to a sorbet and flavored with all-natural fruit purees. And when layered with some of the deliciously creamy ice cream Iggy’s serves, it’s called a Gelati.
Iggy’s gives you the option of ordering plain Italian ice, just ice cream, or a Gelati. And based on what we sampled, you can’t go wrong no matter which way you choose! They’ve got a whole assortment of ice and ice cream flavors which you can feel free to mix and match yourself. Or you can choose from one of their tried-and-true flavor combinations.
We sampled LOTS of different options and every single one was scrumptious, so here’s the line-up of what we sampled…
David’s favorite menu item is the Texas Sky which is their Texas Sunrise ice and their Texas Sunset ice with vanilla ice cream sandwiched in the middle. If you’re a fan of fruity, tropical flavors – this one’s for you! The Texas Sunrise is made up of Banana, Pineapple and Mango and the Texas Sunset is a combination of Apples, Peaches and Oranges.
If you love classic ice cream desserts like Root Beer Floats and Dreamsicles, you’ll love Iggy’s Italian Ice versions as well! The Root Beer Float comes served with Root Beer flavored ice on top and bottom with vanilla ice cream in the middle. And the Dreamsicle comes served the same way only with Orange flavored ice surrounding the ice cream.
If you like something that’s a little bit sour, give their Sour Patch Kid a try which is layers of their Sour Apple, Lime, and Sour Watermelon.
And if you like ice cream, you have to try their Cookie Monster and Cookies & Cream ice cream – together! It’s every cookie lover’s dream.
Iggy’s is the perfect destination for a mid-day snack on a warm day, a treat after a football game, or a fun evening out with the family. There’s something for everyone!
And if you swing by our office at 2624 Long Prairie Rd. in Flower Mound and say hello, we’ve got an Iggy’s coupon with your name on it! Just come on by any time during our normal business hours – 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Hope you have a super chill weekend, Foodies! (Get it?)
