Stormy week ahead

storms 4-26-16xThis week will be an active one for weather in Denton County with several possibilities for severe storms and possibly some flooding.

The best potential for severe storms and localized flooding is Tuesday and Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service. Another upper level storm system may bring a chance for more severe weather this weekend.

As an upper level disturbance and dryline approach, showers and thunderstorms will develop along the dryline Tuesday afternoon. These storms will move into the western parts of North Texas late Tuesday afternoon and across Denton County Tuesday night.

storms timeline 4-26-16Damaging winds and large hail will be the main hazards. A few tornadoes will be possible especially west of I-35 Tuesday late afternoon through Tuesday evening.

Another upper level storm system and surface cold front and dryline will affect North and Central Texas Friday through Saturday. The timing and placements of these systems will be determined as we get closer, but it looks like we will have a chance of strong to severe storms and locally heavy rain.
