To celebrate the groundbreaking of a new $1 billion residential community in the Argyle area, Ross Perot, Sr. drove a truck that moved the historical Faught House across the property at a ceremony Wednesday.
The 130-year-old house will be restored for use as a community center and gathering area for Harvest, a 1,000 acre mixed use development located at the northwest corner of I-35W and FM 407 straddling the Argyle/Northlake town line in southern Denton County.
Approximately 3,000 single-family homes are planned for Harvest, previously known as Belmont, ranging in price from the $200s to $400s, according to developer Hillwood Communities.
The first phase consists of 323 homes with a range of lot sizes and will be centered around amenities such as the 12-acre Harvest Lake, community pools, hike & bike trails, an amphitheater, community farm, playgrounds, community center, parks, event center, and sports practice fields.
Homes in Harvest will be built by David Weekley, MHI and Highland Homes. The community is in the Argyle Independent School District, and a new elementary and middle school is planned to be built inside the community.
Harvest is similar to Lantana in that it lies in a Fresh Water Supply District with its own property tax rate to pay off municipal bonds issued to build out the community.
