Piranha Killer Sushi’s chef and owner, Kenzo Tran, has partnered with Lewisville-based Christian Community Action to give back to southern Denton County during the grand opening of his new restaurant in Flower Mound.
Piranha’s opening is slated for April in the Robertson’s Creek Shopping Center at FM 2499 and Dixon.
As part of the grand opening celebration, 100 percent of first day food sales will benefit Christian Community Action.
“We chose CCA as our charity of choice because of their commitment to helping those in need,” said Tran.
Christian Community Action provides a variety of services to families in need within 42 communities throughout Denton, Collin, Dallas, Tarrant and Wise counties.
“The CCA has arms everywhere; they reach a broader population through area food banks, their resale store and providing medical and dental services,” said Tran.
In one year, CCA assists more than 12,000 individuals, distributes more than $1.4 million of food and sees more than 4,000 low-income patients in their health center.
CCA has more than 1,660 people taking educational and vocational training programs at their Lewisville facility annually. They hand out more than 57,000 lunches to kids during the summer and provide 2,900 children with Christmas toys each season.
Piranha Killer Sushi first opened its doors in 2001 in Arlington, Texas. Since then, the restaurant has expanded into South Arlington, Fort Worth and Austin.
Tran said that Piranha offers Asian and Japanese-inspired cuisine, combined with a unique dining experience
The new restaurant, located next to Carol’s Cards and Gifts, will feature 3,000 square feet of seating for 135 guests and will be equipped with an outdoor patio and bar. The restaurant expects to add 40 new jobs to the local economy.
