Local restaurateurs are living the dream

For many years, David Cerda had a dream—to open his own Tex-Mex restaurant. So it is really no small coincidence that when Cerda and his wife, Lynne, opened the doors to their new Bartonville Town Center eatery on Oct. 23, they called it Mi Sueño, “my dream.”

“I wanted to do it the right way with all the pieces in place for success,” Cerda said. “We have been blessed with the people that we have working here at Mi Sueño. There are many years of experience working inside the walls here and it shows…many of our guests are always complimenting us on the quality of our service and food. We have been truly blessed and are very grateful.”

Cerda said he and Lynne were attracted to the Bartonville area for a couple of reasons.

“We had been looking in this area due to the growth potential that it presented, the demographics, and also just talking with people in the surrounding area, and gathering their thoughts about the potential of a Tex-Mex restaurant coming in,” Cerda said.

“The people we talked with were very excited about our ideas. After looking at different spaces, the timing just felt right with the Bartonville location and to be quite honest, with the space being a restaurant, a lot of the pieces were in place.”

Mi Sueño offers a variety of culinary options, while maintaining a rather casual atmosphere.

“We are Tex-Mex,” Cerda said. “You will find all of your favorite Tex-Mex dishes here along with a few specialty items, like seafood, steak, and chicken dishes. I have created the Tex-Mex menu so that our guests are more in control of what they can order as a combination.

“In other words, you can create your own combination of our different enchiladas, tacos, and tamales, all of which come with rice and beans. We also offer a full-service bar, which includes our already famous margaritas!”

The restaurant also offers a variety of breakfast dishes, including Huevos Rancheros, Huevos Con Papas, Chorizo, and Mi Sueño’s signature breakfast nachos.

Happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; breakfast is served at 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant is located across from the west entrance to Lantana at 2648 FM 407E, Suite 150, in Bartonville Town Center.
