A “Go Fund Me” page has been set up to help the grieving family of one of Flower Mound’s beloved volunteers who passed away late last month.

Nels and Marilyn Pearson were married for 41 years, had two children and seven grandchildren. Nels attended St. Francis of Assisi parish in Grapevine. He died June 25 from a heart attack at the age of 64.

He formerly worked at EGW Utilities, Inc. in Carrollton and spent countless hours offering his time to area causes.

Between Nels and his wife, the couple had medical complications that prompted a variety of healthcare needs and surgeries. The costs of this care are something Nels’ widow now faces on her own.

The family fund is hoping to raise $55,000 to help Marilyn cope with the financial burden. So far, $200 has been raised.

“Please turn your compassionate eyes on his family. In memory, of Nels Pearson, any donation, small or large will ease some of their financial burden of unpaid medical expenses,” the page reads.

“Typically, most individuals do not think financial hardship could happen to them or their loved ones but many times more than not, it becomes a reality.”
