TxDOT funds final phase of FM 2499 extension

The Texas Department of Transportation approved a contract for the construction of the final phase of the FM 2499 extension between FM 2181 in Corinth and I-35E in Denton.

The $34.8 million contract was awarded to Webber Construction company. The project includes building a new, 3-mile, six-lane divided urban roadway.

Once the new road is completed, FM 2499 will provide a direct link through south-central Denton County from the City of Denton to DFW Airport. See preliminary design schematic here.

“Like all of Texas, the urban areas of our state will continue to see rapid population growth,” said TxDOT Commissioner Victor Vandergriff. “Relieving congestion on our roadways not only improves our quality of life, but also enhances economic opportunities. We are pleased to partner with state and local entities who share our vision of keeping Texas moving.”

Construction start dates will be established in upcoming meetings between TxDOT and the contractors.
