A head-on collision Saturday afternoon in western Flower Mound claimed the life of a Springtown, TX woman.
Gayla Smith, 54, died in the crash that occurred around 5 p.m. in the 4000 Block of Hwy 377 near FM 1171.
Police said that the accident involved a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban with six occupants that was traveling southbound and a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe with five occupants heading northbound.
The preliminary investigation showed the Suburban crossed the double yellow line and the vehicles collided head-on.
Smith, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet Tahoe, did not survive the collision.
Flower Mound, Argyle and Roanoke Fire Departments transported seven people to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said that the cause of the crash is still under investigation and there are no preliminary indications that alcohol or speed was a contributing factor.
