Chris Drew, a Flower Mound resident who serves on several town commissions, announced his candidacy for Flower Mound Town Council in a news release on Wednesday night.
“My campaign is about being a servant and a voice for all residents of our town,” Drew said in a statement. “I promise to support low density, be fiscally responsible, and honor the Master Plan.”
Drew is running for Place 2 on council, which is currently held by Sandeep Sharma, who is term-limited.
Drew grew up in the area and is a graduate of Marcus High School. He bought his first home in Flower Mound in 2016, and serves on the town’s Planning & Zoning Commission, SMARTGrowth Commission and Capital Improvements Advisory Committee. Drew, a registered professional engineer, has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
“When I think about the Flower Mound of my past, I think of Dixon Lane with the trees arching over the roadway, and the pastures along 2499,” Drew said. “That does not exist anymore; it’s been replaced with growth. We can all agree that development must occur and will occur, but we must grow smart.”
Drew said he doesn’t support apartments in Flower Mound, and pledged fiscal responsibility.
“I also promise to honor the Master Plan,” Drew said. When we change our Master Plan, we tarnish its vision and destroy the long-term plan for our town.”
