Boil water notice issued for part of Northlake

The town of Northlake issued a Boil Water Notice for some of its residents and businesses on Wednesday afternoon.

Water lines are being depressurized due to an emergency repair, according to a news release from the town. Only businesses and apartments that are Northlake water customers around Hwy 114 — no single-family communities — are affected.

All customers in that area are urged to boil their water prior to consumption (such as washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. Bottled water is also a good alternative.

Everyone should follow those directions, the town said. Children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

The town will notify customers and rescind the boil water notice when the water is safe for human consumption.
