The Greater Lewisville Association of REALTORs collects backpacks for financially challenged Lewisville ISD students every year, and they have a big goal this year.
Out of the 55,000 students in LISD, about 15,000 qualify for financial assistance, according to GLAR. Last year, GLAR collected 701 stuffed backpacks, and this year, their goal is 1,000.
A Lewisville Walmart, located at 190 East Round Grove Road, is partnering with GLAR’s collection effort. On July 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the REALTORS will set up tables all around the store and will give away free snow cones to shoppers who donate school supplies. The Marcus Drumline, some Marquettes, the LISD School Board, GLAR Board members and REALTORs will be participating.
