Foodie Friday: Shoal Creek Tavern

Chef Florencio Benitez…. we meet again! There’s a reason every restaurant Chef Florencio touches turns to gold, and it’s because of his amazing creativity and passion when it comes to his food and his employees.

Shoal Creek Tavern opened in the Shops at Highland Village just over two years ago and is the perfect combination of sports bar and cozy tavern. On just about any night their bar is packed with patrons enjoying a drink and any number of their delicious menu items.

It’s always hard for us to leave Shoal Creek’s cozy atmosphere, and one of our all-time favorite spots in the restaurant is their climate-controlled patio. Let’s be honest, here in Texas there are only a few months out of the year that really classify as “patio weather,” but you can enjoy patio dining year-round with Shoal Creek’s patio. It’s always comfortable and it’s also the perfect place to hold private events if you’re looking for space (we know from personal experience).

Some of our all-time favorite dishes Chef Florencio cooks up at Shoal Creek Tavern are (first and foremost) the Lollipop Lamb Chops served with a rosemary demi- glace, garlic cheddar mashed potatoes, and buttered carrots; the Fish Shrimp & Chips made with Shiner beer-battered cod loin, jumbo shrimp, and a homemade slaw; and their Chicken and Waffles with buttermilk fried chicken, bacon, and fried eggs sandwiched between sweet waffles.

And for dessert, you can’t leave without trying their tavern-friendly Salted Caramel and Bourbon Pecan Ice Cream Pie!

Shoal Creek Tavern also has a few new tricks up their sleeve, including their new Mimosa flight which will be debuting this weekend for their weekend brunch service. All of the syrups are made in-house at their bar and they’ve got everything from a raspberry flavor to a cucumber-infused one.

They also have some fun things happening for Easter and Mother’s Day coming up. On Easter Sunday, they’re serving a special brunch from 10:00am-2:30pm with fan-favorite dishes like their Roasted Prime Rib, Chicken Enchiladas, French Toast and more. You can RSVP in advance by calling 972-317-2250. They usually have something similarly special planned for Mother’s Day too, so keep an eye out for information on that! We heard Chef Florencio mention the words “chocolate fondue,” so we’re in!

We always have a great time when we visit Chef Florencio at Shoal Creek Tavern, which is why they’ve quickly become a fan-favorite. Go visit them this weekend, reserve your spot for Easter brunch, or give them a call about helping out with a private event you’re hosting. You can thank us later.

*Shoal Creek Tavern is located at 1701 Shoal Creek Dr, Highland Village TX 75077.
