Double Oak schedules retirement celebration for town secretary

Charlotte Allen

The town of Double Oak has scheduled a retirement celebration for its longtime town secretary.

After nearly 17 years working for the town of Double Oak, Town Secretary Charlotte Allen has announced that she will retire on Feb. 1, according to a news release from the town of Double Oak. The community is invited to a retirement party for Allen on Feb. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Double Oak Town Hall, 320 Waketon Road.

“Our Double Oak community is grateful for Charlotte’s commitment and dedication,” said Double Oak Mayor Mike Donnelly. “She has been our best ambassador and representative over the years. Her accomplishments and attention to detail has made Double Oak a wonderful place to live, work and play. Charlotte has always taken pride in her work, done things the right way and she is leaving the town in great shape for the future.”

Allen has worked with the town since town hall was a small trailer in April 2002.

“The town has grown but has kept its volunteer-community spirit,” Allen said. “I have had the honor to serve Double Oak’s residents, mayors and councils and to work with outstanding colleagues. Double Oak has been a wonderful place to work and will always be a part of my family. It has been fun to be a part of the town’s history.”
